what a remarkable and interesting story to read. I felt stunt and very imotional reading all these facts. It just reflect my memory back in the days of the the January 6 intervention , when a hand full of idiots held millions of people into ransom causing untold suffering for millions. some have past away and some of us are still living, illing the pain and suffering that we went through, throughout that nine month standoff. Allah will hold all those perpetrators accountable for the mayhem they unleashed on defenceless civilians. There are few people who have this country at heart. some people don't even have respect for humans lives. Poor mama sierra leone has come too far with all the stumbling blocks, mismanagement, greed for power, selfishness, and hatered. There were genuine people like your dad Hon. Sanusie Mustapha who stood up for peace and prosperity for our beloved nation (may his soul rest in peace). My hope and prayer now for our beloved country is that, may Allah continue to bless those of us who have good intentions to make head way to the top to bring better betterment and success to this country. I always ask myself where are we heading to. Sierra leone was once the anthen of west Africa now look how far are we from the top. But i am optimistic that by the help of Allah we shall reach the top and clinch our past glory once again. We don't deserve to be begging donor countries for help, we should be self sufficient by now. With all the wealth that Allah has blessed us with yet we remain perpectually poor nation? We should really put aside all the set back that has crippled our one and only Sierra Leone all this while for the future of our children and children yet unborn. Sierra leone is a sweet and beautiful country, we can't afford to live as slaves throughout living abroad. We want to go back home and contribute which ever way possible to the prosperity of our country. May God bless us all and bring a brighter future for every one and our children yet unborn.

I agree!!! My dad had a copy when I was a lad; I seriously wish I still had that copy. It is a great book and I think another one was the "rising sun". I would love a copyof those books. I have tried Amazon but to no avail.

Storyline underscores the distrust the APC and H.E. Siaka Stevens had over the possibilties of a fair elections being conducted under the leadership of Sir Milton Margai and his government.
I think that was a very intelligent move. The present day APC is definitely a result of the struggles of our founding fathers.
This website is great and well appreciated, and would serve as an archive for students of history and politics in decades to come.
Bravo!!!

I meant to say he wanted the Republican Constitution before elections which was a contitutional abuse to the draft that called for elections before the Republic.

With all due respect what makes Siaka Stevens different from that of a despot? To even assume he was a smart guy, now in retrospect, is ridiculous He was just a vicious man who couldn't stand anybody that manned up to his draconian ways, especially the intellectual community, as he himself would attest to the disdain he had for that segment of society. The average Sierra Leonean was either not as sophisticated or he simply had his way through the actions of a few sell-outs. Sorry to say if it were now, your father would have relinguish power in disgrace like any Mubarak or Gadaffi. Sierra Leone would have boomed under Siaka Stevens but his narrow mindedness and government of patronage, his idea of a nation and a government were far detached, and in effect arrested the development of Sierra Leone. Here is a man who was vehemently oppossed to independence before election, but yet claimed how free he wanted Sierra Leone to be. When a Republican Constitution was proposed by Albert Margai, again Siaka Stevens was oppossed to it. Reason: he was not in position to benefit directly from such a move. When he was Prime Minister, he manufactured all kinds of reasons why we needed it. When it was stipulated elections were to be held before the Republican Constitution, Siaka Stevens as PM indicated it was okay for the elections to wait after independence, what a character? Those who were conscious enough to read within those lines were maligned as enemies of the country, and were to be later executed on trumped up charges. How smart can one be to be outsmarted by Jamil Sahid? Or is it a case of a con being coned?

The entire Sierra Leone is aware that Sir Milton Margai and Sir Albert Margai are brothers, except there is something we missing as a nation.

I am sure you will recall that Late President Momoh was arrested and tried for treason under Former President Tejan Kabbah's Government. Why? because he stayed in sierra Leone when the AFRC JUNTA tok over the Government of Sierra Leone.
That Story is missing. How he died in Guinea? People must know. He was weak yes because he was not a politician. But you have said that his advisers were crooks. The are still in the corridors of power doing the sam thing again.
I think the story of Late Preident Momoh should be told especially how he was treated at Pademba Road. I will find time to tell the story because I was there and I tell you these stories should be told.
